In the early days of the facility the Whitsunday Sportspark committee were responsible for organising all sport in Airlie Beach. Sporting clubs then formed, initially the Sea Eagles AFL, Raiders Rugby and Whitsunday Touch, shortly followed by Netball Whitsunday and then Whitsunday Football Club. Over the years the Whitsunday Sportspark Committees role has focussed to running and maintaining the facility and co-ordinating usage.
