Welcome to the Green Energy Technology - Whitsunday Sportspark Inc website. Our role is to foster the growth of junior and senior sport in the town of Airlie Beach.

As the only sports fields in the town of Airlie Beach (population 9,000) this multi-sport facility is the hub of sport for the town. We have an oval and rectangular field, netball courts and two clubhouses all within easy walking distance to the accommodation and attractions of the Airlie Beach main street.

We are home to clubs from AFL, Rugby Union, Touch Football, Soccer, Netball and Softball and also host one off sporting and community events. Links to our resident clubs can found in the ‘user clubs’ section and requests to make bookings for use of the facilities can be made from our ‘booking diary’ page.

DRIVING SPORT THORUGHOUT THE WHITSUNDAY REGION

The Whitsunday Sportspark hosts over 1,000 people a week throughout the busy Winter sports season. We often have Saturdays where there are two or three separate clubs hosting visiting teams from Mackay or Bowen in several different grades.

Throughout the week the facilities are busy each night hosting training sessions and often throughout the day there are community groups utilising the facilities. We have hosted major events over the years including music festivals, Cancer Council Relay for Life, Mackay Cutters vs North’s Devils QRL Intrust Super Cup game, Qld Police Rugby Carnivals, Rugby 7’s tournaments, Touch and Netball carnivals and Proserpine Brahmans Mackay District Rugby League games.

When bigger days occur we have access to additional parking at an adjacent site and can make arrangements with the local bus company as we have a bus stop right out front.

CHANGING THE FUTURE OF WHITSUNDAY SPORT

We are the only sports facility in the Airlie Beach area and our grounds are running well over their safe carrying capacity. To enable sport to grow we need a couple of additional junior fields to take the pressure off the senior fields and allow their surfaces to improve. Ultimately we require a junior sports complex to try and develop inter town sport between Airlie Beach, Proserpine, Bowen and Collinsville and lessen the need for parents and kids to travel hundred’d of kilometres to Mackay or Townsville each weekend.

As always money is the issue and we have some major plans to solve this problem and the reliance on government funding. Due to the unique location of the park on prime waterfront land in close proximity to the cosmopolitan tourist town of Airlie Beach we plan to make best use of the facility.
